Have you been careful to do things the 'right way'?
Have you worried about disobeying your parents?
have you struggled with indecision?
Have you made choices based on what you were supposed to do?
If you've said 'yes' to any of these, know that you're not alone. Many of us struggle with living someone else's life. Often, your choices can be made from a sense of practicality, or what is expected of you, or to please others. Less often, we'll make choices that are borne out of pure joy and passion.
Now is the moment to step forward and choose to live a life of passion and fulfillment.
It's time to live your life to the fullest on your terms.
This is how you live a life with no regrets.
But if you want a little more detail, I have compiled a list of tips and tricks to ensure that when you look back, you can be satisfied in the decisions that you've made. No regrets.
1) Be who you are.
If you are making choices to please others, it is important to know that you can never make other people happy. Their happiness is in their own hands. So if you'll be criticised either way, you might as well be the truest version of yourself you can be. And if your feelings about something change later? Know that they were true and valid once.
2) Be bold.
It's time to step off the cliff and free fall into a more abundant future. It takes courage, but more people regret the chances they don't take than the ones they do.
3) Be mindful.
Listen to your intuition. That voice in your head is looking out for you so if something doesn't feel right, it isn't right.
4) Be authentic.
You will find joy in being your true self. Don't be afraid to show your truth, honestly, and humbleness. You do not need to change who you are for other people to love you.
People will be drawn to your inner light. They will love you because of who you are, and not in spite of it.
If you're not sure who you are, take some time for personal growth. Read books, take classes, find other like - minded women, and see what happens.
5) Be focused on your wellbeing.
This encompasses mind, body, and soul. Your body is a vehicle and feeding it food that brings energy will revitilise and nourish you. The same goes for your mind and soul. Read things that make you think. Do things that make you happy. Make time to care for yourself. (And drink plenty of water!)
6) Be dreamy
Visualise your dreams and then go confidently in their direction. If your life is a meal, your dreams are the spice. Even if the dream seems outlandish, you might be surprised what opportunities will present themselves if you go for it.
7) Be ready to celebrate your failures.
Failure isn't failure - it is simply information. Whatever you did didn't work, which means you're one step closer to figuring out what does. As Jennifer Aniston said "There are no regrets in life, just lessons." Take a moment to appreciate the new information you have, pivot, and find a new solution. After all, you can't buy experience.
8) Be compassionate.
Treat others with respect. It's not called the Golden Rule for nothing! What you put out into the world is what comes back to you in return. Help others when you can. Make people's lives easier (within reason). Those people will be in your corner when the tables are turned.
Most importantly, be compassionate and be nicer to yourself first.
9) Be open.
Life is too short to tuck away your truest feelings. If you feel something, say something!
Tell your loved ones that they are, indeed, loved ones. Tell them all the time.
10) Be playful.
It is easy to fall into a rut of all work and no play. But you need balance. What's the point of a life with no joy? Joy can come in small moments - like buying an ice cream cone and enjoying every last bite? It can be taking a bubble bath and relaxing. It can be joking with your significant other.
Whatever it is, find those moments and cherish them.
